Albert's Paintbox is a program that can be as simple or advanced as anything you'll need at primary level. For the infants, turn off most of the tools and gradually introduce them as they are needed. By the time they're 7 or 8, the advanced tools – symmetry, smudging, pixel editing – will find a place in all areas of the curriculum.

Supplied with high-quality recorded speech in English, optional Talk·2·Talk languages may be added at any time: English, French, Gujerati, Polish, Punjabi, Spanish, Urdu and Welsh (see Show me more and Talk·2·Talk).

And the tools have been specially designed to lay a foundation for use with advanced software.

Make satisfying pictures using the full complement of artist's tools, each of which can be individually switched on or off.

Schoolzone says: 'The program is useful in introducing IT concepts in a child-friendly way. There are six buttons at the bottom of the screen, which are an initial introduction to the tools and techniques that Albert's Paintbox offers. The configurations can be edited to suit a particular activity or an individual's needs.

'The publishers of this fantastic resource deserve to be congratulated!'
